What happened

On September 1, 2026 the board took up elementary English language arts curriculum. The interim superintendent recommended Benchmark digital with print consumables for 2026-27, with a price list for another program (Amplify CKLA) attached. An August 18 agenda item covered an elementary ELA curriculum transition plan under the board goal to raise third grade ELA scores.

Why it matters to families

Reading materials set what elementary students read each day. The agenda shows the choice is proposed, not final.

The evidence

The Sept 1 agenda item and the attached Aug 31 email from the interim superintendent describe the recommendation.
