Moreland School District's budget picture this spring began with a tightening outlook. In March, the Board approved the 2025-2026 Second Interim Report with a Positive Certification, but the numbers pointed to pressure ahead: the General Fund unrestricted ending balance is projected to drop from $8.5M to $2.3M by 2027-28, driven by declining enrollment. The district paired that trend with reduced staffing, trimming FTE from 461.868 to 431.223 to match enrollment projections.

That same month, the Board took a step to fund the district's capital program, unanimously adopting Resolution No. 09-2025/2026 to request Santa Clara County set a tax rate in FY2026-27 in advance of selling the final ~$18,000,000 series (Series C) of Measure M bonds, rather than waiting until after the bonds are sold.

In June, the Board addressed rising operating costs by approving an amendment to the Sodexo America food service contract that increases per-meal fee rates (lunch to $3.101, breakfast to $1.818) for the remainder of the 2024-2029 contract term.

The fiscal year closed with the Board adopting next year's financial and planning documents. The 2026-2027 District Budget was formally adopted per state guidelines using May Revise data, following a public hearing at the prior meeting. Alongside it, the Board approved the 2026-27 Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP), which sets district goals, funding priorities, and planned actions and services for all students, including high-needs subgroups, with over $11.4 million tied to LCAP actions.
