District news
District creates new Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction position, replacing Director of Elementary Education role
What happened
At its July 27, 2026 meeting, the Board of Education approved abolishing the Director of Elementary Education, PK-5 position and establishing a new Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction position effective July 1, 2026. Matthew Kriley was reassigned from Director of Elementary Education, K-5 to the new Assistant Superintendent role, and his non-represented employment contract for 2026-2027 was separately approved.
Why it matters to families
This is a significant restructuring of the district's central curriculum leadership, elevating oversight of instructional programs districtwide to an assistant superintendent level and could signal broader changes to how curriculum and instruction are managed across all schools.
