Mountain View Elementary · Aug 11, 2026
What happened
Mountain View's 2026-27 Targeted Student Population plan introduces daily Heggerty phonological-awareness lessons, with teacher training, grade-level planning, and targeted Tier 2 intervention for students who need extra foundational-literacy support.
Why it matters to families
This is a new instructional program affecting how the school supports early literacy, particularly TK through second grade students who need targeted help. The plan sets a goal of raising the share of K-2 students on or above grade level in i-Ready phonics from 17% to 25% and in phonological awareness from 34.6% to 45%.
The evidence
The published TSP plan marks the Academic Excellence strategy 'New,' says Heggerty lessons will be implemented daily for Tier 2 intervention, and records the cited K-2 progress targets.
