Budget cuts drop an IEP coordinator, a central office assistant and an ed tech

What happened
To reach its FY27 budget, the board voted 14-1 on May 6, 2026 to cut a planned 9-12 contingency line ($100,000), one of four central office administrative assistants ($60,000), a new IEP coordinator position ($80,000) and one regular education technician ($38,000). The budget summary also lists removing the transportation manager position ($78,000), a new behavioral administrator position ($130,000) and a new furnace for Brownfield-Denmark Elementary ($230,000).
Why it matters to families
Cuts to support staff and special education coordination can affect services. Deferring the furnace leaves a building need unfunded while the school's future is under study.
