Natick Public Schools — Facilities

Natick Public Schools has spent the past year laying groundwork for several large facilities projects, starting this past fall with a major step for Memorial Elementary. In late September 2025, the School Committee unanimously approved asking the town to borrow $2.6 million to fund the Memorial Elementary feasibility study and related costs, with potential reimbursement from the Massachusetts School Building Authority. That study is the first stage in deciding what the school's future should look like.

Three months later, in December 2025, the committee turned to the wider picture, unanimously approving both a five-year capital plan and a $6.06 million submission to the town for fiscal year 2027. Notably, the committee chose to exclude field investment beyond the existing junior-varsity field from the request, meaning the capital ask focuses on other priorities. Together, these two decisions put a concrete, townwide funding plan behind the district's facilities needs.

Most recently, in April 2026, the district reported a new win for sustainability work at Lilja Elementary: a $150,000 grant dedicated to the school's HVAC system and heat pumps. It is a smaller, targeted investment that sits alongside the larger planned projects and gives families an early sign of work on the ground, even as bigger decisions about Memorial Elementary and the multiyear capital program continue to move forward.
