Voters approved a $35 million repair bond; pool area flood work to start in 2027

Facilities

What happened

Proposition 2 on the May 2026 ballot asked for up to $35 million. It pays for boiler replacements at four elementary schools, new public address systems, building controls, rooftop heating and air units, and drainage and flood protection at the high school. Voters passed it, 1,844 to 744 (unofficial count). Architects said construction should begin in the second quarter of 2027 and take 12 to 14 months.

Why it matters to families

The high school pool flooded in 2021 and is still being rebuilt. Leaders said the drainage work must come first or the new pool could flood again. This is also a long-term bond, so taxpayers will repay it over years.

The evidence

At the October 8 meeting, the district's architect said Prop 2 passed and described underground storage tanks under the home-side bleachers. Earlier budget meetings in March and May described the list of projects and the $35 million limit.
