North Reading Public Schools' budget cycle for fiscal year 2027 progressed through the spring of 2026, moving from a first look to a formal decision. The school committee opened the process on March 9, 2026, when its agenda scheduled a preliminary presentation of the district's FY27 budget, giving the public an early view of the proposed spending plan.

Just over a month later, on April 27, the committee placed the FY27 budget on the agenda for a vote, following the earlier preliminary presentation and a public hearing. That vote brought the budget cycle to its formal conclusion for the district. Alongside the budget work, a student civics project on user fees was set to be presented at the May 11 committee meeting, connecting the budget discussion to student perspectives on the fees families pay.
