Oak Grove expects short-term loan to cover December payroll timing gap

What happened
Oak Grove expects to seek board approval in November for a short-term loan to cover its Dec. 20 payroll. County revenue is expected Dec. 26, and leaders said the loan would be repaid the following month.
Why it matters to families
The district says it will need temporary borrowing to meet payroll before expected county revenue arrives, although it described its revised 2026–27 budget as balanced.
The evidence
At the Oct. 21 meeting, the board approved a 2026–27 budget update projecting $26.803 million in revenue, $25.646 million in expenditures, and 18.4% year-end reserves. Leaders said they had enough cash for November payroll but expected to need a tax-anticipation loan for December payroll because the county payment arrives after the Dec. 20 payday; they planned to bring loan paperwork for board approval in November. They also cited an expected $600,000 reduction in operating revenue and $500,000 in debt-service revenue tied to Jackson County tax credits. The board approved the budget update, not the loan.
