District news
Old Bridge has a new superintendent after an interim year

What happened
Dr. Bernard Bragen served as Old Bridge's interim superintendent through December 1, 2025, and told the board on October 28, 2025 that his assignment was ending and asked for a short overlap to help the handover. Dr. Vincent Sasso, previously the Old Bridge High School principal, gave his first report as superintendent on December 9, 2025. He has since reorganised his monthly reporting around the district's strategic plan, The Bridge to 2028, and its three priorities: Excellence in Education, Fiscal Resiliency and the Whole Child.
Why it matters to families
The superintendent recommends every hire, budget line and programme change, and this change came just as the board began the elementary redistricting and the biggest tax increases in years. Dr. Sasso has led the district's public case for both.
The evidence
The approved October 28, 2025 minutes record Dr. Bragen telling the board his time as interim superintendent ends December 1 and asking for a six to seven day overlap with the incoming superintendent. The approved November 18, 2025 minutes contain his final report, in which he names Dr. Sasso as his successor. The approved December 9, 2025 minutes open with 'New Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Vincent Sasso provides his first official Superintendent's Report' and describe a five-week transition.
