District opens qualifications process for a planned Orland High School gym
What happened
Orland Unified has opened a process to find a design-build team for a planned new gym at Orland High School. Teams are being invited to submit qualifications before proposals are requested; the minutes do not report a final construction approval or project cost.
Why it matters to families
A new school gym would be a significant campus facility project, but the record shows the district is still seeking a project team rather than approving construction details.
The evidence
The September 17, 2026 minutes’ facilities update says the RFQ period is open for design-build teams to submit qualifications for the OHS gym project and then submit proposals. At the August 20 meeting, the superintendent described the district’s recommendation to use progressive design delivery and said opening an RFQ would be the first step.
