Grants pay for an early learning center upgrade, new playground and district office

What happened
The board approved projects to modernize the Old School House into an early learning facility, build a preschool playground and improve student transportation safety. Four bids came in on March 19, 2026, and the work is paid for by the state Small District Modernization Grant and a Douglas County PUD grant. In August staff said all projects were within budget, with the district office done at the end of September; final acceptance is on the Oct. 27 agenda.
Why it matters to families
More preschool space and a new playground change where the youngest students learn and play, at no cost to local taxpayers beyond the grants.
