What happened

Staff reported limited STAR progress, with roughly 57% of students in the lowest math band. For 2026–27, the response includes ClassTime assessments in grades 3–5, added reading progress checks and stronger teacher-team data review.

Why it matters to families

The changes affect how teachers identify gaps and adjust instruction. Foundational-reading results improved even as broader math performance remained a concern.

The evidence

The July 28 presentation set August ClassTime training, regular short assessments, monthly classroom feedback and extra checks for readers below benchmarks. STAR remains the 2026–27 benchmark while alternatives are reviewed. October 27’s study session describes continued rollout; new supports are not proof of improved results yet.
