What happened

The approved budget projects unrestricted operating gaps of $5.1 million, $8.2 million and $9.4 million over 2026–29. It also draws $6 million, $11 million and $8.6 million from a special reserve fund.

Why it matters to families

Recurring gaps and reserve draws put pressure on future service budgets; they do not identify a newly adopted cut list.

The evidence

The county projects adequate current-year cash and compliance with the state 3% reserve minimum. Its depletion warning concerns the Special Reserve Fund for Other Than Capital Outlay Projects after its 2028–29 transfer, rather than all district reserves.
