In late January, the board set the course for next year's budget work by adopting the Budget Advisory Committee's $6.123 million recommendation as the basis for considering 2026-27 reductions, with formal approval still to come at later meetings. This gave the district a concrete target to guide planning for the coming fiscal year.

In mid-February, that planning moved into action when the board approved 44 FTE of service reductions for 2026-27 across the two component districts. The cuts span the shared course offerings, including English, math, social-studies, science, agriculture, arts, and career-pathway teaching assignments — a broad impact on the instructional program families and students will see next year.

Most recently, the board approved another 6.6 FTE of reductions concentrated on alternative education, including a principal, counselor, and teaching positions at Valley Oaks and San Antonio High School. Taken together, the three actions show a budget picture that has moved from setting an overall target to approving growing rounds of staffing and service cuts as the 2026-27 budget takes shape.
