District news
Visitor program with Jewish Federation changes to opt-in, outside class time
What happened
At the June 16, 2026 meeting the superintendent reported changes to the district's program with the Jewish Federation. The district added oversight in classrooms, moved to opt-in participation, and will schedule activities outside instructional time, such as before school, at lunch or recess, or after school.
Why it matters to families
Under the change, students no longer have to leave a classroom to opt out. Families get clear information and choose whether to take part. As of December 2025 the program ran at Thornell Road Elementary and Barker Road Middle School.
