Board votes to raise property tax request authority
What happened
Under Nebraska's 2023 property tax law (LB 243), the board voted 9-0 on August 31, 2026 to approve a resolution on its property tax request authority. The public notice said the meeting was to consider an increase of up to six percent above the base growth percentage. The board then adopted the 2026-27 budget and tax request on September 14 after hearings where no one spoke.
