Plymouth Public Schools — Facilities

Planning for Plymouth's school facilities moved forward on several fronts over the past year. In December 2025, the committee voted to enter a Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) feasibility study for renovating or replacing Hedge Elementary, including study of whether the school could be consolidated with Cold Spring Elementary. That study is the earliest and most consequential long-term building decision in this set of alerts, since it will help determine the future of both buildings.

In March 2026, the district announced a near-term space change: Plymouth Early Childhood Center classrooms would move out of temporary space at Manomet Elementary and into rooms at PCIS and Plymouth South Middle School. The move pairs a facility upgrade with the district's ongoing program needs for early-childhood education.

The district also pressed ahead on energy and sustainability work. In May 2026, the committee agenda called for signing Greenskies solar power-purchase agreements covering Plymouth North High, Plymouth South High, and Plymouth South Middle. Then, in August 2026, the district announced its intent to execute an energy performance contract with Ameresco under Massachusetts procurement law, rounding out a pattern of facilities work focused on both building improvements and long-term efficiency investments.
