What happened

Princeton Public Schools reported that its Orton-Gillingham structured-literacy approach is now fully implemented in grades K–5, extending it to fourth- and fifth-grade students. The district also described teacher coaching and support for a new standards-aligned English language arts program.

Why it matters to families

Reading instruction is changing across the elementary grades, including a structured approach that teaches how word parts and roots build meaning; the reported supports may help teachers put the updated literacy instruction into practice.

The evidence

At the October 28, 2025 meeting, a district presenter said Orton-Gillingham was fully implemented K–5 that school year and described instruction on Greek and Latin prefixes, roots, and suffixes. The presenter also said lab sites with the new ELA vendor would begin in December and described ongoing instructional coaching. (Transcript, 01:06:23–01:07:15.)
