Who runs Relevant Academy?

A small public charter school with an appointed four-member board

Relevant Academy of Eaton County is a public charter school (public school academy) in Grand Ledge, Michigan, with about 90 students. It is authorized by Eaton RESA, the county's intermediate school district. Michigan charter boards are not elected: members are appointed through the authorizer. The board meets monthly and oversees a superintendent, Lauren Blakely. Like other Michigan public schools, it is paid mostly through the state's per-pupil foundation allowance, so its budget rises and falls with enrollment.

Funding

$806,767 of the $1,147,085 in expected 2025-26 revenue comes from the state (revised budget, January 2026).

Savings

The 2025-26 audit shows total net position of $951,626, up 19.3% from the year before.

Special education partner

Grand Ledge Public Schools pays the academy back for services to special-needs students; these transfers were $346,445 in 2025-26.

Board

Four members serve now; the board page lists open trustee positions and invites applications.

The posted minutes are short motion-and-vote records, so they show what the board approved but not the discussion behind it.
