What happened

Aides, a teacher and both employee associations raised concerns about inconsistent one-to-one support, physical incidents and inadequate space. One aide alleged 16 vacant one-to-one positions and requested longer, five-hour jobs and a mentoring timeline. The superintendent requested written concerns for follow-up; a trustee asked for items at the October 28 special-education task-force meeting. The meeting did not approve extra aide hours or establish a legal violation.

Why it matters to families

Families of students needing intensive support face questions about continuity of care and safe learning conditions. The allegations require a documented district response; they are not independently verified findings.

The evidence

Public commenters described vacancies, repeated substitute changes, break coverage and behavioral incidents. The superintendent asked for the written list so he could follow up. A trustee requested special-education task-force agenda items. CSEA and RTA endorsed the need for action.
