District audits are years behind; FY2023 audit only finished in July 2026

What happened

The superintendent told the board in July 2026 that the audit for the 2022-23 school year was just finished, and that audits for 2023-24 and 2024-25 were expected within six months. The auditor presented the FY2023 audit to the board on Sept. 16, 2026.

Why it matters to families

Without current audits, voters approved the 2026-27 budget without independent checks of the last two years' spending. At the May budget meeting a resident said she was wary of carrying forward unaudited money after a previous deficit.

The evidence

July 15, 2026 minutes, superintendent's report: 'FY 22/23 Audit is completed... Expect 23/24 & 24/25 within 6 months. Board members have requested that the auditors present their findings to the board.' At the July 23 budget meeting, asked 'Are all the audits in yet?', the answer was 'We have received 22/23; waiting on the remainder.'
