District news

Two fights at the high school in two days led to a 40-minute lockdown

High-risk

What happened

On Sept. 23 and 24, 2026, two fights happened at Rush-Henrietta Senior High School. In the second, one student was hurt and a student let in someone who was not allowed in the building. A staff member thought they heard a gunshot, so the school went into lockdown for about 40 minutes. The Sheriff's Office says no shots were fired. The district added security guards, counselors and Sheriff's deputies.

Why it matters to families

Students and staff were scared, and many families lost trust that the school is safe. The district is now making big changes to security, discipline and how it talks to families.

The evidence

The superintendent's Sept. 27, 2026 message describes the fight, the lockdown, the Sheriff's Office finding, and the added security.
