District news
Board adopts policy changes for devices, grades, attendance and student services
What happened
The board adopted a broad policy package, including a K–5 rule that prioritizes teacher-led instruction and non-electronic materials, and a rule that high-school GPA uses final grades instead of semester grades starting in 2026–27.
Why it matters to families
The changes affect classroom device use for younger students and how final grades are used in high-school GPA. The package also changes rules on attendance, student assignments, health supports, and other district operations.
The evidence
The approved July 23 minutes list the policy changes and record unanimous first-and-final-reading adoption after the board waived the usual two readings.
