District news
San Jacinto budget approved with a $6.9 million spending gap

What happened
The county approved the 2026–27 budget but flagged a projected $6.9 million gap in unrestricted General Fund income and spending. Further gaps are forecast in the next two years.
Why it matters to families
Recurring spending above income can reduce the money available for future school services. The letter recommends offsets for new ongoing costs; it does not adopt cuts.
The evidence
The August 28 county review projects unrestricted gaps of $6.9 million, $5.2 million and $3.6 million across 2026–27 through 2028–29. It also projects positive current-year fund balances, sufficient cash and compliance with the state reserve minimum.
