Board approved revisions to the sexual health curriculum
What happened
On June 23, 2026 the board unanimously approved revisions to the district's comprehensive sexual health curriculum. The revisions were presented on June 9 by a science and health program specialist, discussed alongside the district's family opt-out and alternative-curriculum options, and the board's Curriculum, Standards, Instructional and Student Services Committee told the board it unanimously supported them.
Why it matters to families
California requires districts to teach comprehensive sexual health, and parents have a right to opt their child out. A revision changes what is taught and when, so families who want to use the opt-out need to know the content has changed. The board record shows the committee review and the opt-out arrangements were discussed before the vote.
