What happened

At a first reading, the Board reviewed proposed policy and regulation revisions that would change grading and transcript procedures, update graduation requirements and exemptions, and require extreme-weather protocols for physical education.

Why it matters to families

If adopted, the revisions could affect how students receive grades and weighted credit, how some students meet diploma requirements, accommodations for religious fasting, and safety procedures during extreme weather. The minutes identify these as first-reading proposals, not final adoptions.

The evidence

Item 12.1 of the approved Aug. 19, 2026 board minutes describes proposed revisions to Administrative Regulation 5121, Board Policy 6142.7 and related regulation, and Board Policy 6146.1. The proposals include Credit/No Credit options and weighting changes, a stand-alone personal-finance course beginning in 2030-31, expanded graduation exemptions, religious-fasting accommodations, and required extreme-weather protocols.
