Board approves surplus status for empty Parkway Campus

Facilities
Campus Parkway, Seattle, Washington
Rick Shu · by-sa

What happened

The board approved declaring the Parkway Campus surplus, clearing a first step toward a possible lease. The campus is empty after its programs moved to Central Campus, and the board said the action does not commit the district to a lease.

Why it matters to families

The district can now pursue a lease for the former campus, but families should not interpret this vote as a completed lease or sale; no agreement was approved.

The evidence

The September 23 minutes state that Resolution 08-26 to surplus the Parkway Campus passed 3-0. Superintendent Kent Kultgen described surplus approval as the first step toward a lease, said it did not lock the district into anything, and noted all programs had moved to Central Campus.
