Regional pool concept advances to discussion of a possible taxing district

What happened
Valley Pool Together presented a possible path to a new regional public pool: creating a dedicated park-and-recreation service area (PRSA) to fund and operate it. This remains a concept under study, not an approved district project; the example used a $68 million construction estimate and about $850,000 in annual operating costs, with funding dependent on voter approval.
Why it matters to families
If pursued, the project could create a substantial new regional facility and a separate voter-approved operating levy affecting residents in its eventual service area. The presentation said the pool’s location, scale, financing, and feasibility still need further discussion, so neither the project nor a tax impact is settled.
The evidence
At the September 24 board meeting, the Valley Pool Together presenter described a PRSA as an option being considered for funding and running a regional pool (00:07:49–00:08:34). The $68 million construction benchmark was based on Si View’s December 2025 estimate for a facility near Si Park, and annual operations were estimated at about $850,000 (00:21:44–00:22:46). The presenter said the location exercise was only for community feedback and that the group would continue studying feasibility and gathering consensus (00:24:19–00:26:56).
