Who runs St. John-Hudson schools

A small rural district with two schools, new board members and plans for another bond

St. John-Hudson USD 350 in Stafford County runs St. John Elementary (PreK-6) and St. John Jr/Sr High (7-12). A seven-member elected board, two members from each of three areas plus one at-large, sets policy and the budget and hires the superintendent, Dr. Jana Hare. The board usually meets the second Monday of the month. Since January 2026, agendas and packets are posted on a Diligent Community portal.

Seven elected members

Derek Foote is president and Trey Burgan vice president (elected January 2026). Tyler Alpers, Ross Fisher and Miranda Gleason joined in January 2026.

Open-meetings complaints

The Attorney General responded to complaints in late 2025, and the board took required open-meetings training.

Bond planning

After the 2025 bond election, the district surveyed voters and formed a bond committee.

Taxes

The board voted to exceed the revenue-neutral tax rate for 2026-27 and uses the full 33% local option budget.

The district now posts full board packets, including bills paid and draft minutes, which is more than many small districts publish. Nearly every vote in the past year was unanimous.
