What happened

The board approved student cell phone policy JICJ and its regulation on June 8, 2026. Superintendent Kelle Bongard told the board on August 10 that the policy took effect on the first day of school and limits students' personal devices from bell to bell. Staff report fewer distractions in classrooms and hallways, and drop-off and pick-up routines are still being refined.

Why it matters to families

Students cannot use their phones during the school day, which changes every family's daily routine.
