Board opposes school tax cap question on November ballot

Financial

What happened

Voters will decide on November 3, 2026 whether to adopt a cap on school taxes under state law HB 1300. On August 27 the school board voted not to support it.

Why it matters to families

The superintendent warned a cap could mean larger class sizes and fewer elective courses. A cap needs 60% of ballots to pass.

The evidence

The August 27, 2026 recording shows the superintendent's warning and the board's vote not to recommend the tax cap. Later meetings scheduled public forums on September 30 and October 14.
