Bond construction: some projects slip to 2027, elementary additions await state approval
What happened
Work from the 2024 facilities bond is under way (about $144 million approved). By Aug. 2026 the High School guidance and wellness suite and H.B. Thompson's new track and turf were on track for Sept., but the new High School gym and baseball/softball turf were delayed (gym to summer 2027), and the H.B. Thompson security vestibule moved to spring 2027. The May 11 update said classroom additions at four elementary schools were still waiting for State approval.
Why it matters to families
Delays mean longer disruption and later use of new space. The district also warned of planned power shutdowns (about 3 weeks at the high school) this summer.
The evidence
The August 2026 superintendent's report lists projects as completed, on track, in progress and delayed; the May 11, 2026 facilities update lists the upcoming and awaiting-approval work. The bond page records the Proposition 1 ($110.59 million) and 2 ($33.22 million) votes.
