What happened

At a public hearing on June 3, 2026, the committee voted to adopt a $140,277,587 FY2027 budget, combining a $135,231,802 city appropriation with unused FY26 Circuit Breaker special-education reimbursement funds. Superintendent Cabral said the budget adds no reductions in services and no staff layoffs, helped by a projected $4.175 million increase in state Chapter 70 aid.

Why it matters to families

This is the budget that pays for every classroom, program, and staff position for the 2026-2027 school year, and the district says it held the line on cuts at a time it says many neighboring districts are not.

The evidence

The June 3, 2026 minutes record the public hearing and the roll-call vote adopting spending of $140,277,587, and Superintendent Cabral's statement that the proposed budget includes no reductions in services and no staff layoffs.
