Flood repairs add $3.4 million to Telluride's general fund budget

Facilities

What happened

After flood damage at the school buildings, the board was asked on Aug 25, 2026 to raise the 2025-26 general fund appropriation from $25.2 million to $28.6 million for flood remediation and repair, and to add a $100,000 insurance deductible to its use of savings. Insurance proceeds are also expected.

Why it matters to families

Repairs affect classrooms, such as fifth grade in the intermediate school and hallway flooring, over the next months, and the cost reduces reserves.

The evidence

The Aug 25 packet lists the adjusted appropriation resolution and says a new 2026-27 appropriation will reflect flood costs and insurance proceeds. The Sept 22 minutes say floor repairs continue through April.
