IB textbook approved after month-long delay

What happened
Trustees approved Protest and Change 3–2 on August 18 after deferring it in July. Families are to receive a memo explaining the unit’s approach.
Why it matters to families
The vote allows the IB course to use the text while asking teachers to support critical thinking and explain different views. It was not a textbook ban.
The evidence
Anderson, Barham and Schwartz voted yes; Komrosky and Wiersma voted no. The student trustee supported approval. Critics questioned ideological balance, while students and supporters argued that studying an argument does not require agreeing with it.
