CFO resigns; outside firm Abacus takes over district finances
What happened
Chief Financial Officer Angie Velasquez resigned effective December 18, 2025. On December 15 the board hired Abacus LLC to handle accounting and CFO duties for up to six months, and Superintendent Aaron Horrocks became interim treasurer.
Why it matters to families
An outside firm prepared the final 2025-26 budget (196 days of cash on hand) and the 2026-27 budget, and it still presents financial reports. Abacus warned that state funding will shrink as enrollment averaging moves from four years to three.
