Board keeps tax rate above the compensating rate, raising 24,573 more
What happened
On August 25, 2026 the board kept its general fund property tax rate at 111.8 cents per $100 of assessed value. The compensating rate, which would bring in about the same money as last year, was 108.0 cents. Keeping the higher rate is expected to raise about $524,573 more than in 2026, for construction, maintenance, transportation and the building fund. In April a resident told the board that school taxes are pushing older residents to move.
Why it matters to families
Property owners in the district pay this tax. Holding the rate while property values rise means a bigger tax bill for many owners.
