What the State Board decides

Statewide K–12 policy and oversight board

Washington’s State Board works on graduation requirements, basic-education compliance and statewide education policy. Its membership combines regional representatives elected by school-board directors, Governor’s appointees, a private-school representative, the Superintendent and two students. OSPI administers separate education programs; local districts operate schools.

Representation and selection

The current directory lists sixteen members. Five regional representatives are elected by public school-board directors; other positions have different selection routes. The Superintendent serves through that office.

State policy and local schools

FutureReady concerns possible changes to graduation requirements. Local districts retain their own operating roles. OSPI’s AI and phone guidance does not establish a State Board mandate.

Funding and spending remain unknown

A separate Board operating appropriation, detailed expenditures and comparable per-pupil spending were not established. These unknown amounts are not zero.

An agenda outline identifies planned topics; it does not establish what the board discussed, voted on, or adopted.

No project-specific appropriation or total implementation cost was established.

Twenty exact official source URLs/hashes were reconciled. Seven meeting occurrences group twelve TVW agenda-outline pages. OSPI device and AI guidance are separate publications, with both AI PDF representations retained and their differing text reviewed. Original source bytes are stored; recording proceedings and excluded packets remain gaps.
