Fewer students leave a $55,000 budget gap

Financial

What happened

The school had 44 students in August, below the 46 its 2026-27 budget assumed. Staff said that leaves the budget about $55,000 short. By September enrollment was 41, and the fundraising committee said about $70,000 still must be raised.

Why it matters to families

State and county money is paid per student. In a school this small, each student lost is a big share of the budget.

The evidence

August 19, 2026 minutes say current enrollment puts the budget about $55,000 in the red. The May 20 minutes show the budget was adopted for 46 students. The September 15 minutes record 41 students and the $70,000 fundraising need.
