Voters approve $1.8 million for 10 diesel buses, not electric ones

Financial

What happened

A proposition on the May 19, 2026 ballot allowed $1.8 million to buy ten 66-passenger diesel school buses, paid over five years with about 68% state aid. The board approved the bond resolution on June 2, 2026. The district says the electric bus it ordered last year has not arrived and it is still checking whether its power grid can handle charging.

Why it matters to families

New York's rule to move to electric school buses is still unsettled, so the district chose diesel buses for now. Buses are how many students get to school.
