Board declines to ask voters for a new bond or an added tax override this November

Facilities

What happened

On Aug. 19 the board voted to deny resolutions that would have put two more questions on the Nov. 3, 2026 ballot: an additional ongoing mill levy override of about $0.5 million a year (1.71 mills, per the discussion) and a bond measure. Earlier staff and community feedback listed needs including renovating Pioneer Ridge Elementary, converting Milliken Intermediate School, and completing Roosevelt High School.

Why it matters to families

Without a bond, the building projects staff identified have no new voter-approved funding source yet, and the district keeps managing growth with current facilities.

The evidence

The Aug. 19 agenda lists the resolutions. The recording captions show the votes (a yes vote was a vote to deny). The June 3 and Aug. 5 agendas describe the long-range planning feedback. Future ballot plans were not in the collected records.
