Wilmington Public Schools — Admin hiring

Over the course of the 2025-2026 school cycle, Wilmington Public Schools has been steadying its administrative leadership through a mix of permanent appointments and interim placements. The earliest development came in September, when the staffing report confirmed Brian Caira's promotion from Interim Principal of Wilmington Middle School to the permanent role, joined by Craig Murray as the new Assistant Principal. That settled the building's top leadership after a period of intermittent coverage.

The district's executive office turned over soon after: in November the School Committee voted 5-1-1 to appoint Matthew Posca as the permanent Superintendent subject to contract negotiations, with a negotiation team of Fennelly, Bryson, and Mercaldi. Attention then shifted back to North Intermediate School, where Ms. Amy Iascone accepted the Interim Principal role for the remainder of the year in December. A permanent search for that building remains in progress; in February the Committee agreed to shorten the initial contract for that position to two years instead of three, reasoning that a new northside school opening in roughly two years will bring significant changes.
