A free AI programme for up to 1,300 high school users

What happened

On August 12, 2026 the board accepted an artificial intelligence literacy programme for its high school, sponsored by a technology company and delivered through an outside learning platform at no cost to the district, for up to 1,300 students and staff from August 14, 2026 to August 13, 2027. Separately, the curriculum management software the district renewed for 2026-27 at $36,592.50 includes a $5,000 option described as artificial intelligence curriculum for kindergarten to grade 12. The district has adopted no policy on student use of generative artificial intelligence; none appears in any of the policy readings collected for this page, including the complete recodification of the policy manual on September 23, 2026.

Why it matters to families

Up to 1,300 high school students and staff, which is most of the school, will use an outside company's artificial intelligence platform without a board policy governing what students may and may not do with generative AI in their work, how it must be cited, what counts as cheating, or what happens to the data students put into it. Several neighbouring districts adopted such a policy during the same year. The programme is free because it is sponsored, which is worth knowing when judging what the sponsor gets from it.
