Almost every school changed principal or assistant principal

What happened

Winslow moved most of its school leaders in a single summer. On June 10, 2026 the principal of School 4 became director of student support services from September 1. On June 24 the board moved five administrators from July 1: the School 6 principal to School 1, the School 1 principal to middle school assistant principal, the high school principal to School 6, a School 6 assistant principal to the high school, and another to School 6. On July 15 it appointed a new high school principal at $170,000 from August 16 and a new high school assistant principal at $100,000, and moved a serving assistant principal to a supervisor post. In August an assistant principal was promoted to principal of School 4 at $118,000, and in September another high school assistant principal was appointed at $103,500 from October 16. A middle school assistant principal had resigned in May and a high school assistant principal had been reassigned to teaching.

Why it matters to families

The principal is the person a family actually deals with, and in most Winslow schools that person changed over one summer, including a completely new leadership team at the high school. The moves were made by a board with no permanent superintendent, and the high school assistant principal post was still being interviewed for in July and only filled from mid-October, so the high school started the year short-handed. None of the resolutions gives a reason for any move.

The August 12, 2026 agenda promotes an assistant principal to principal of School 4 at $118,000, and the September 9, 2026 agenda appoints a high school assistant principal at $103,500 effective October 16. The May 13, 2026 agenda records the middle school assistant principal's resignation and a high school assistant principal's reassignment to teaching.
