Superintendent Mike Goforth given a new contract through June 2030

Admin hiring

What happened

On April 13, 2026 the board voted to end Superintendent Dr. Mike Goforth's existing contract on June 30, 2026 and start a new one the next day that runs to June 30, 2030. Angela Owens made the motion and Stephanie Kern seconded it, and the motion carried. Dr. Goforth had told the board a month earlier that he would not answer public accusations about him and intended to keep leading the division.

Why it matters to families

The superintendent runs the schools day to day and recommends every hire the board votes on. Locking in a four-year contract during months of public criticism tells families that the board is keeping the same leader rather than changing direction.

The evidence

The approved April 13, 2026 minutes record the motion to terminate the current contract effective June 30, 2026 and approve a new contract effective July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2030, with the mover, seconder and the result that the motion carried.
