State-funded building project is under way: new addition, gym renovation and roof
What happened
Summer 2026 work replaced the main roof, built a new restroom and began demolishing the old cafeteria and career-tech building. An addition, a gym renovation and a new trades workshop in the old library are in design, with final pricing expected about Oct. 20.
Why it matters to families
The project is paid through a state BEST grant and a voter-approved matching bond, and it changes the school building students use.
The evidence
The Aug. 31, 2026 minutes record the owner's representative saying phase one came in about $3,300 under budget, a $500,000 contingency is funded, and hidden asbestos under the gym floor needs licensed cleanup. Earlier minutes show the grant closing on Dec. 9, 2025 and the project about $1.5 million under budget in April.
