District news
Superintendent Mike Franklin plans to leave at the end of the 2026–27 school year
What happened
Superintendent Mike Franklin submitted his resignation, effective June 30, 2027, one year before his contract ends. In an Oct. 19 letter included in the Oct. 27 board packet, he said he plans to pursue other professional opportunities and will support a smooth transition.
Why it matters to families
The district will need to manage a superintendent transition affecting leadership and operations across all of its schools.
The evidence
The packet includes Franklin’s Oct. 19, 2026 resignation letter stating: “Please accept this letter as notice of my resignation as Superintendent … effective June 30, 2027.” He says he decided to leave one year before the end of his contract and will support a smooth transition. The packet contains the letter, not a board vote accepting it.
