How is Amery governed and funded?

Board monitors budget and cash flow

The five-member school board approves district policy and budgets. District budget materials show revenue from local property taxes, state aid and other sources. A separate annual meeting considers the levy; the September annual-meeting figure was tentative. During 2026 the board created a finance oversight committee and reviewed cash-flow borrowing and proposed reductions.

Where general fund money comes from

The October budget packet lists 2026–27 general-fund local taxes of $10,070,232 and state general aid of $5,577,153; these are budget figures, not actual receipts.

Budget oversight

The board created a finance oversight committee in March. In July officials reported a mismatch between the accounting system and the 2025–26 board-approved budget; the board approved a revision in August while audits were ongoing.

Annual meeting

Electors approved a tentative $14,149,721 levy on September 21; final levy approval was not verified from collected minutes.

Borrowing authorization

At its September regular meeting the board authorized up to $3.5 million in cash-flow credit. That authorization is not the same as the amount borrowed.

The October budget packet is available, but collected sources did not include approved October board minutes to establish the final budget or levy vote.
