What happened

On June 29, 2026, the board revised its artificial intelligence policy (7540.09). Only closed AI tools approved by the district may be used. Students may use AI only when their teacher clearly allows it, and they must disclose and cite that use.

Why it matters to families

Families should know when AI is allowed for homework and tests. The policy also says no assignment can require an AI tool the district does not provide, all AI-driven decisions need human review, and an AI workgroup will advise the board.

The evidence

Policy 7540.09 on the district's Neola policy site shows it was adopted February 10, 2025 and revised June 29, 2026, with these rules. The June 29, 2026 meeting summary lists 7540.09 among the revised policies.
